Re: Visual WebGui IDE

I saw in the "AutoMagic" that it uses reflection to create the Design of your form. Using reflection you can only customize properties. Your application will broken if your 'end-user' remove a component used in the sources.

It is a very limited customization way.

As you see in the Automato, I can add VWG controls, change properties and write c# code. If the 'end-user' remove components or do wrong things the application will not 'compile'.

Automato will have an option to compare projects to show the differents so you can merge the changes.

I'm creating Automato because I need a way to give the 'end-user' an option to complete customize my applications and/or create a new application from zero. My ERP System need it !

I will release the first version of Automato in january/2009.

Alexnaldo Santos

Re: Visual WebGui IDE
Your end users must be very sophisticated to have the skills to program.  Why not just use Express Versions of Visual Studio, they are free and work with Visual WebGui.

Cheers

Re: Visual WebGui IDE
Hi Marco,

Visual Studio is a complete IDE that doesn't implement DDD (Domain Driven Development).
Automato implement DDD, so many things you and your end-user doesn't need to implement from "zero".

Questions about DDD  :

(1) Your end-user need a new field for table "X";
(2) Your end-user need a new "Form";
(3) Your end-user need a new "Menu";
(4) Your end-user need to write c# code from specific situation;
(5) Your end-user need to write a new report and write all business code;
(6) Your end-user need to integrate your application with others applications;
(7) ..etc..etc..

Can you do it easy using Visual Studio ? You need write many things(code,sql scripts, updates, etc..) and you will "lock" your application for that customer.

The main ideia is : Create your application like you does today, but turn it fully customizable without "lock" your base application.

Using Automato Model you can merge differents modules/applications. Now, my ERP System can uses your e-mail application.

Re: Visual WebGui IDE

Hi Orin Cohen,

Thanks. I think that nothing will be possible without VWG.

My intentions is to create a VWG IDE that implement DDD with the following elements:

Data, Forms, Actions, Menus, Reports, Resources and Code. (yes! you can create new elements)

I think that it can help many users.

As you can see in the posts, for each element I'm creating the "xml notation". At the moment, is not hard to create the "xml notation" for VWG Controls, so do not worry if seeing few VWG Controls/Properties in the IDE. It is temporary.

Do not worry too about portuguese language in the IDE, is only "*.resx" files.

I would like to have investor/partner to accelerate the development. I think that it can be a good software.

Any options are welcome.
