Adding a Silverlight Control Library

When I try to add a Silverlight Control Library project to a SilverLight application solution I get the following message.

The project file '...' cannot be opened.  The project type is not supported by this installation.

I have installed silverlight beta 6.1.3 on vs.net 2008.

Re: Adding a Silverlight Control Library
Hi,

It sounds like a very basic mechanism is not working right with your environment - can you please supply some more information regarding your environment so we’ll be able to diagnose it.

Thanks for this information,

Shlomi

Re: Adding a Silverlight Control Library
I'm getting the same problem running on Vista with VS2008. But I'm using 6.1.4 rather than 6.1.3.

The full error message is:

---------------------------
Microsoft Visual Studio
---------------------------
The project file 'C:\Users\msawczyn\AppData\Local\Temp\ljnlreke.zps\Temp\VisualWebGUISilverlightControlLibrary2.csproj' cannot be opened.

The project type is not supported by this installation.
---------------------------
OK Help
---------------------------

When I check in the directory C:\Users\msawczyn\AppData\Local\Temp\ljnlreke.zps, I see that the 'Temp' directory that should be under it (according to the error message) isn't there.

thanks.

Re: Adding a Silverlight Control Library

Hi Michael,

We know of a few issues with the packaging tool and the installation. It is either you choose to struggle it (like few community members did and succeeded – you can perform a forum search on the subject). Or you wait for 6.2 and it's stabilization revisions which are about provide a fully integral solution with VS 2005 and 2008 and should solve the entire spectrum of installation/configuration and packaging issues whatsoever.

Regards,
Itzik Spitzen
