In the past 9 years IFN solutions has been using an internally developed VB 6.0 + SQL Server based application
to manage the working hours of its employees. One very crucial disadvantage of the system was that it could not enable remote reporting of a large number of external employees.

The biggest impact has been the speed of development. We are able to create more professional looking products with less time and effort then before and saved us from having to hire additional staff. The fact that we could integrate other tools that we bought such as Data Dynamics saved us a lot of time as well ...

The Web based solution serves over 500 users worldwide and has garnered high praise from both users and onlookers as a very responsive, highly usable system. Asaf Saar – Team Leader of SAP Labs NetWeaver UI Test Development team, says: "My team and I started with plain asp.net, and then we tried the Microsoft .NET Ajax framework (back when it was called Atlas). We have also tried other open source AJAX frameworks and some commercial solutions. None of them answered our needs.

In the beginning of 2005 IFN started developing the next generation of its products, this time focusing on web oriented solutions as all the market did. It started to research and look for the right technology to adopt. IFN knew what it was looking for and what it wanted to achieve but was searching the best way to get there. IFN knew that it's customers would not accept anything but a client/server functionality based on web technology. That’s when IFN came upon WebGui which is a web application framework that enabled them to develop application in client/server development concepts.
